The Sebago Center is driven by our institutional pursuit of environmental and social justice. We are committed to sustainability and wellness and passionate about local food systems innovation. Embodying that commitment, our From Our Roots event programming is designed to give visitors a deeper sense of our mission to create sustainable communities by supporting the local food system and its farmers, food producers, food manufacturers, chefs, distributors, and consumers. We offer a number of ways to take part in the local food movement—from farm-to-table lakeside cookouts to outdoor concerts that support local farm families. Join us on the shores of Sebago Lake this summer and experience firsthand our commitment to building a healthy, robust food community.
Experience the magic of Sebago Lake at night with a guided moonlight paddle. Soak up the beautiful night sky and shining full moon from a kayak or paddle board. The evening will begin an hour before moonrise with a campfire on the beach where guests will meet their expert guide who will share safety and logistical information, hand out headlamps and life jackets, and share a brief history the lake. The group will then depart together toward the middle of the lake to watch the full moon rise over the water. Join us for a memorable night under the stars.
Join us this summer under the night sky to enjoy lakefront stargazing led by our very own faculty astronomer, Dr. Ryan Dorland. Guests of all ages will enjoy looking through telescopes set up along the shore of Sebago Lake, giving attendees a clear view of star clusters and planets. Dr. Dorland will provide information and answer any questions stargazers might have. Star parties will happen on select Tuesdays, following the Sebago Lake Cookouts, so stick around for a fun night of astronomy!
