Workshops

In partnership with the faculty of Saint Joseph’s College, the Sebago Center is developing skill-building courses and certificate programs for lifelong learners. Our goal is to train the workforce for emerging areas of Maine’s new economy and to develop an innovation hub and entrepreneurial community that will strengthen our economy, provide meaningful careers and business opportunities for people of all ages, and make a positive social impact on our communities. Come learn with us.

 

Beginner Silver Ukulele
6 Week Course 

Wednesdays, October 2 – November 6
1:00PM – 2:00PM

Experience the joy of music, learn a new skill, be social, and have fun! Learning to play the ukulele is a cumulative process. Your instructor will teach you a minimum of 4-8 chords with a variety of strumming patterns, which will allow you to play a variety of songs. By the end of the 6-week class the students should be able to play all of the songs in the music book.

Beyond Basics Silver Ukulele
4 Week Course 

Fridays, October 4 – October 25
1:30PM – 2:30PM

The beyond basics class is for people 50+ who know basic chords and want to expand their ukulele skills to learn new genres, new strumming patterns and new rhythms. This class will introduce some new finger picking patterns and teach how and why we use capos. Students are encouraged to purchase a ukulele capo but it is not mandatory.

Beginner Pottery

6 Week Course 
Upcoming Course Date Will be Announced soon!

Learn to make bowls, plates and vases using the potter’s wheel. This is a basic course that will cover making and glazing pottery from start to finish. 50lbs of clay, glaze, and open studio access are included in the price of the six-week course.
